Laminate: planting and care in the open ground, types, medicinal properties
A herbaceous perennial or annual plant of Lamium is a part of the family Lamiaceae. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in Eastern Europe, while it prefers to grow along the banks of rivers. Outwardly, it looks like a simple undersized weed grass. But as a result of the work of breeders, various cultural decorative varieties of crypts were born, which can have a different color, stem height and shape of leaf plates. The bush remains green and showy throughout the spring and summer. Low-growing varieties are cultivated as decorative ground cover plants, while tall perennial varieties are used to decorate rabatok and flower beds.
Lamb is very fast growing, which is why it is very similar to a simple weed. The maximum height of such a plant is about 0.25 m. Its root system is fibrous, in this regard, it can very quickly fill an extensive area, decorating it with its branched stems. Dark green heart-shaped leaf plates have a serrated edge. Soft veins are clearly visible in the center of the leaves; in some cases, spots adorn the plate.
Peduncles grow from internodes, while in length they can reach about 0.3 m. They grow with small leafy plates and flowers. Flowers can be painted in various colors, they are two-lipped corollas. In the center of each flower are thin stamens with anthers of violet-black color. Flowers collected in whorls. After the whorl fades, a seed box is formed at this place, and in it there are nuts of a trihedral shape. This seed box is the fruit of the clam. When the fruits are fully ripened, the seeds spill out of them themselves, thanks to which the plant reproduces itself spontaneously. Lambweed blooms for a very long time for several months. The first buds on peduncles are formed already in the last spring weeks, and the formation of fruits begins at the end of June.
Lambweed is propagated by seed. They are recommended to be sown in late autumn or at the beginning of the spring period, at this time seed germination is significantly increased. Sown seeds are not for seedlings, but immediately into the garden.
Before you start sowing, you need to prepare the site. For this, the soil is dug up and all weed is removed. Level the soil on the plot and evenly distribute the seeds. When the seedlings grow a little, they can be thinned out if necessary. It is quite simple to take care of the seedlings, they only need to be watered in a timely manner in moderation, if there has not been rain for a long time. Do not allow the top layer of soil to dry out on the bed, but make sure that the liquid does not stagnate in the root system of the plants.
Most often, the clover does not need weeding, because it itself can drown the growth of weed grass, while it covers the area with a continuous carpet. However, perennial weed grass, which has a very powerful root system, will have to be removed from the site.
The seedling propagated by the seed method blooms only in the second year after the seeds are sown. Experts advise not to allow uncontrolled self-sowing of this plant, because over time it can begin to suppress the development and growth of other crops growing in the garden and located nearby. If you decide to plant different varieties of calendula, then choose sites for them located farther from each other. If they grow next to each other, this can have a negative impact on their decorativeness, because after cross-pollination varietal differences between them will not remain.

Clear ground care
Such a herbaceous perennial plant like cassock is unpretentious in cultivation. For her, it is best to choose sites that are in the lacy penumbra of tree crowns.
On the site, suitable soil for growing such a flower should be moist and loose, it should include a moderate amount of nutrients, including trace elements. If the soil is excessively fertile, this will lead to the rapid growth of clumps, which may interfere with the normal growth and development of other flowering crops on the site.
Such a flower is watered systematically and abundantly, but make sure that in the root system the water does not stagnate for a long time. In the dry period, the foliage dries and curls, and bare shoots are also observed. Shortly before flowering begins, the plant should be fed with organic matter.
Like other ornamental ground cover plants, the calendula should be mowed systematically. If this is done in a timely manner, then the flower will be able to maintain its spectacular appearance, as well as bushiness.
Adult bushes of perennial crypts are transplanted systematically, and do this once every 5 years. Such a plant is highly resistant to frost, so it does not need additional shelter for the winter.
Lambweed can be easily propagated by dividing the bush. This method of propagation is very popular among gardeners, because bushes propagated in this way fully retain their varietal qualities, and they bloom next year. It is recommended to divide the plant in spring. To do this, carefully dig out the bush and divide it into several parts, while taking into account that on each dividen there must be root offspring that can give new shoots. After this, the delenki are planted in the planting pits, which are prepared in advance. Do not forget to pour them with plenty of water.
Propagation of the cassock by layering is not very popular among gardeners. Most often, this procedure is carried out in the first autumn weeks. To do this, you need to choose the most powerful shoots, they are bent to the surface of the soil, fixed in this position and sprinkled with a not very thick layer of soil. Next spring, it will be possible to separate and plant the branches that have taken root from the mother plant, since by this time they will already be able to grow normally on their own.
Propagate the plant by cuttings in recent summer days. First, cuttings are prepared, which are planted for rooting in a mixture of sand and peat. From above they are covered with a cropped plastic bottle or a glass jar. Cuttings are provided with timely watering, and they must also be ventilated as soon as condensation appears on the surface of the shelter. When the roots grow on the cuttings, they can be planted in a garden in a permanent place. Rooted cuttings need obligatory shelter for the winter, for this they are thrown with branches of spruce or leafy leaves.
Diseases and pests
If it is improperly looked after and made up of regular stagnation of moisture in the root system, this will lead to the appearance of rot on it. In this regard, special attention should be paid to the condition of the soil on the site, and also do not forget to properly water the plant. All plants affected by rot are dug up and destroyed, and those areas on which they grew are treated with a fungicide solution.
Most often, the scabbard, the spider mite and the mealybug are harmful to the clove. To get rid of these pests, you will need to treat the bushes with a suitable pesticide.
Among gardeners, the most popular are variegated varieties of calendula. They are cultivated as a decorative landscaper of free zones or grown in flower beds as separate decorative groups. This plant is best planted near the host, Lungwort and Heichera. Often, terraces, gazebos and balconies adorn with cloves. They can also be grown as an ampel plant.

Flowering begins in June, and it ends only in the last days of September. The flowers are painted white.
Lamb purple or red nettle
In the garden, this species is cultivated as a biennial or annual plant. The length of the shoots is about 0.25 m, they are densely covered with very small oval leaf plates with a dark green color. The formation of buds begins in the middle of the spring period, but in general this plant blooms for several months.
Spotted or speckled lamb
This is a tall herbaceous plant that has strongly branched stems. Green foliage is decorated with silvery veins. Pale pink flowers can be seen on the bushes during flowering from May to October. The best varieties:

The healing properties of the crypt
Lamb is a medicinal plant. Its healing properties are determined by the content of a large number of useful substances, while the most important of them are: alkaloids, flavonoids, essential oils, ascorbic acid and tannins.
Infusions based on this plant are used for sore throats, serious inflammation, or as a diuretic. In order for open wounds to heal faster, herbal lotions are applied to them. Hot baths with clear pads help with gynecological diseases.
Before you use the cinnamon for the first time as a medicinal plant, it is recommended that you consult with your doctor. There are practically no contraindications to the use of crypt. However, individual intolerance to the substances that make up the clefts is rare, which can cause the development of allergic reactions.
